DEPARTMENT OF MACHINERY AND METAL TECHNOLOGIES
MACHINERY PROGRAM
Why Machine
The machinery sector covers a significant part of the engineering
industries and is the main basis and driving force of the country's economy.
Having a globally competitive machinery manufacturing industry is essential for
advanced industrialization. The main goal of the Machine Program is to train
machinery technicians who have the knowledge and skills demanded by the rapidly
developing machinery sector, who know the industry closely, who have reached
qualification standards, who are open to innovations, who are aware of their
responsibilities, and who have human and ethical values. Our students graduate
with skills such as being able to design and analyze machine parts and a system
in accordance with the desired features, being able to select the appropriate
material, production method and tool for manufacturing, being able to
manufacture using computer-aided machine tools (CNC) operating systems and
CAD-CAM software, being able to use CAD/CAM, AutoCAD and SolidWorks package
programs, being able to repair and organize the work of elements in mechanical,
pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
Duration and Content of Mechanical Technician Training
The training period is 2 years. During the training; Technical Drawing,
Professional Drawing, Workshop, Computer, Manufacturing Technology, CNC
Lathe/Milling, Mechanics, Materials, Machine Information, Measurement, Quality
Control, Thermodynamics, Hydraulics and Pneumatics, Physics, Turkish Language,
English, and Mathematics are taught as well as the application of these courses
and summer internships.
Those who successfully complete their courses and summer internships are
entitled to graduate and receive the title of Mechanical Technician.
Employment Opportunities
The Mechanical Program is a program that trains intermediate staff for all
institutions and organizations operating in the public, municipalities and
private sectors, producing and using machinery. Our graduates who receive the
title of "Mechanical Technician" can find employment opportunities in
many areas related to their professions in the public and private sectors and
can also establish their own businesses. There are employment opportunities in
many areas such as the machinery manufacturing sector, mechanical drawing,
project design and production units of factories, automotive sector, all kinds
of chip and chipless production, heat transfer and heating-cooling systems,
mold making sector, marine transportation vehicles, iron and steel plants and
aviation. There is a great employment potential in the machinery sector
operating in our region and close to our region.
Undergraduate Completion Opportunities for Successful
Graduates
Mechanical Program associate degree graduates can continue their
undergraduate education by vertically transferring to both formal education
undergraduate departments and open education departments through the DGS
(Vertical Transfer Exam) conducted every year by ÖSYM (Student Selection and
Placement Center).
